Home Page

The home page is the default landing view when you log in to Beacon Tower. It displays the configured home dashboard for your current organization and provides access to all platform features through the sidebar navigation.

Overview​

When you first log in, you see the home dashboard configured for your organization. Home dashboards are static dashboards that administrators set up to provide an immediate overview of key metrics, device status, or other important information.

Key characteristics:

  • Organization-specific: Each organization has its own home dashboard configuration
  • Static dashboards only: Only static dashboards (not device or asset dashboards) can be configured as home dashboards
  • Multiple dashboards: Organizations can configure multiple home dashboards that appear in sequence
  • Primary organization: If you belong to multiple organizations, you see the home dashboards from your primary organization

The sidebar menu provides access to all major areas of the platform:

Main sections:

  • Home: Returns to the home page with home dashboards
  • Assets: Browse devices and view their associated dashboards
  • Charts: Analyze historical data across devices
  • Alarms: View and manage active alarms

Administration section (visible only to users with appropriate privileges):

  • Assets: Manage device assets
  • Models: Configure device models
  • Trees: Organize assets hierarchically
  • Dashboards: Create and configure dashboards
  • Organizations: Manage organizations
  • Users: Manage user accounts
  • Groups: Configure user groups
  • Alarms: Set up alarm rules
  • Notifications: Configure notification channels
  • Themes: Customize the visual appearance
  • Resources: Manage platform resources
  • Firmware: Handle device firmware updates
  • Providers: Configure external integrations

Use the menu toggle button to expand or collapse the sidebar for more screen space.

User Settings​

Access your personal settings by clicking your username in the top bar:

  • Switch Organization: Filter which organizations you see (if you belong to multiple)
  • Change Language: Switch the interface language
  • Change Units: Choose between metric and imperial units
  • Switch Theme: Toggle between light and dark mode

Configuring Home Dashboards​

Administrators can configure home dashboards for their organization:

  1. Navigate to Administration → Dashboards
  2. Click the Home Dashboards button
  3. Select static dashboards to display on the home page
  4. Set the display order if using multiple dashboards

Note: Only users with administrator privileges can configure home dashboards. See the Organizations and Permissions guide for details on user roles.

Context-Sensitive Help​

Most pages in Beacon Tower include a help icon (?) that opens context-specific documentation for the current view. Use this feature to get quick guidance without leaving the platform.
